Rick Cardozo is a retired attorney with over 35 years experience in real estate matters. Rick maintained an active law office in Providence, Rhode Island. Although a significant amount of his practice was devoted to real estate, including the representation of buyers, sellers and lending institutions, Rick also worked in the areas of domestic relations, personal injury, wills, trusts and probate, creditor debtor and bankruptcy, landlord tenant matters as well as other areas associated with a civil practice. However, the one area that brought Rick the most fulfillment was real estate. "Folks only see an attorney during a traumatic period in their lives. Often it is a sad and stressful time. But when you close a real estate transaction for a new homeowner and they are handed the keys to their new home the look on their faces tells it all. Some folks well up with tears." Rick found real estate the most rewarding part of his practice. "I saw I was helping people in the most important way. A new home purchase is the second most important decision you will make in your lifetime."
Rick Cardozo builds relationships first, clients second. "You have to get to know people well before you can show them particular homes or particular neighborhoods. This takes time. We're talking about a decision that determines where your family settles around the Christmas tree, sits down for Thanksgiving dinner, starts a family and measures a child's growth with lines on a wall."
There are many parts of the home buying process. Rick likes to thinks of it as a journey with him acting as the navigator. "First, you need to find the right neighborhood. Next, you have to find the right home in that neighborhood. Then, you need to find the right lender. After that you need to find the right inspectors. Finally, and most importantly, you have to close on time. Buyers and sellers are in transition, moving out, moving in and moving on. They need to know they can rely on a set and firm closing date. I can provide the guidance to make it happen."
