Franklin was primarily a rural suburb south of Nashville until the later end of the 20th century with an economic commodity of crops and livestock. Today Franklin has evolved into one of the most favorable cities to live in the country. The population of Franklin has grown more than 500% since 1980 when the city first saw the start of its commercial and residential boom.

Named “America’s Favorite Main Street!”, Franklin’s downtown district provided with an authentic blend of history and contemporary touches. It’s home to major corporate headquarters, many historical attractions, and a living music scene.

Established in 1799, the town was named after Benjamin Franklin who was best friends with Dr. Hugh Williamson, a member of the Continental Congress. Williamson County was then named after Dr. Williamson.
